Job Description
Nurse midwives diagnose and coordinate all aspects of the birthing process. Midwives may work independently or as part of a health care team. Nurse midwives may provide preventive care to women.
Academic Requirements
Nurse midwives are registered nurses who have completed additional training programs in delivering babies and providing prenatal care. To earn the credential of certified nurse-midwife (CNM), you must complete an accredited master’s program and pass a competency exam.
