Career Description

Health care marketing managers work in the public relations, communications or policy creation departments of hospitals, health care organizations, biotech companies and federal health agencies.  They plan, direct or coordinate marketing policies and programs to determine the demand for services offered by a hospital.

Academic Requirements

A degree specifically tailored to the field of health care marketing is the Master of Science in Health Communication. This 2-year graduate degree program teaches students how to apply the principles and strategies of public relations to the health care industry.  In addition to studying advanced concepts of public relations, media relations and communications, students learn about the day-to-day operations of a health care facility.
